2 Gardening Book of the Year
Image Caption

This award is for any gardening-themed book such as an encyclopaedia, a biography, a diary, or a beautiful ‘coffee table’ book.

Revised, re-published or updated books are not eligible for entry, unless the entrant can clearly demonstrate, with proof, that more than 25% of the material is new to the book. Otherwise all entries must have been published on or between Friday, 8th September 2023 and Thursday, 29th August 2024, singly or within a series.

The book’s concept should be a good one, its subject matter must be horticulturally accurate and the writing engaging and factually correct. The winning book will be well presented; it will have a good cover and a well-organised index if appropriate, and its underlying structure will be well thought out. Every aspect of its content, including any photos and their captions as well as the main text, must be well executed and relevant. Taken as a whole, the winning book should help its readers learn something new or be inspired.

Please note that this award is only for the writer of the book, not the photographer. Only the writer’s name will appear in the shortlist and on the winner’s award.

Books with ‘How To…’, ‘Guide’, ‘Handbook’ or similar in their title or on their front cover should be entered in The Peter Seabrook Practical Book of the Year category.

Entry is open to all and is free to GMG members; a fee of £60 is applicable to non-member entrants (to cover postage/admin).

Authors may only make one entry into this category. Publishers may submit multiple books, but even if the publisher is a member of the GMG, only one entry will be free of charge.

This entry form must be complete by Thursday, 29th August 2024 and hard copies of the nominated book must arrive before Thursday, 5th September 2024.

Current Entry Deadline: 29 August 2024 23:59
