Biography

CAROLYN FRY is an author and journalist specialising in botanical history, science and the environment. She has written/co-authored 12 books including Trees: 10 Things You Should Know; Seeds: Safeguarding our Future (winner of the 2016 Garden Media Guild Environment Award); Plants: from Roots to Riches; and The World of Kew. A former Editor of Geographical (magazine of the Royal Geographical Society), Carolyn has contributed to The Times, The Guardian, BBC Earth, BBC Wildlife, New Scientist, and more. Her work has taken her to many far-flung places, including to follow the frankincense trail in Oman, visit Montserrat’s volcano-struck botanic garden, and go walking at night in the Amazon rainforest. Carolyn lives on the south coast of the UK, not far from the oldest avenue of yew trees in England.
