Biography

A versatile and experienced media professional and consultant, operating nationally and internationally within print media and broadcast, garden design and photography. Author of ten books to date, including RHS The Winter Garden (September 2023) and Chrysanthemums (September 2024). Writing and Photography: Consumer magazines, national newspapers. Column in Garden News. Contributes regularly to national titles including The Guardian, Gardens Illustrated, The English Garden and RHS The Garden. Garden design: Available for design commissions. Particular expertise in meadows, woodland and orchards and naturalistic bulb planting. Designed the award-winning Flood Re: Flood Resilient Garden at RHS Chelsea 2024, with Ed Barsley. Books: Lilacs, beautiful varieties for home and garden (Pavilion 2022); Lilies (Pavilion 2021); Hydrangeas (Pavilion 2020); Dahlias (Pavilion, 2018); An Orchard Odyssey, (Green Books, Sept '16); The Plant Lover’s Guide to Snowdrops (Timber Press, 2014).
