Biography

Writer: national newspaper; author; website: writer/producer; lecturer. Social historian of women's horticultural history, houseplants and flower arranging. Contributor to many publications including Gardens Illustrated and The English Garden, and author of books including Beth Chatto. A Life with Plants (Pimpernel Press), European Garden Book of the Year 2019, Potted History (Pimpernel Press), Rose (Reaktion) and Gardening Women (Virago). Authorised biographer of Beth Chatto and Penelope Hobhouse Specialist subject: garden history, women's history, history of indoor plants, Beth Chatto, Penelope Hobhouse.
