Home Guild Members Richard Gulliver Specialities Lecturer Photographer Richard Gulliver FLS Full Member Biography I have a PhD in seed science and have worked on cold tolerance of beans in the United States. My wife and I now live in Shropshire where we have developed a brook-side wildlife garden - described in the Autumn 2021 issue of ‘The Hardy Plant’; studied native elms and looked at the sequence of flowering in hay meadows. Previously we lived in the Hebrides for 27 years. While there we suggested 22 local Islay botanicals for The Botanist Gin and gathered them for 7 years. We also studied the conservation biology of Irish Lady’s-tresses orchid. Our Scottish semi-wild garden ran down to the sea. The delights and challenges of this Hebridean coastal location were described in the Autumn 2020 issue of ‘The Hardy Plant’. At a larger scale of environmental interaction, I have been monitoring landscape change in central Leicestershire since the late sixties.
