Biography

Freelance writer and experienced practical gardener. I worked for Which? Gardening magazine from 2005, and was principal researcher/writer and the manager of the trial garden (at Capel Manor College in Enfield ) up to 2018. Since 2019 I've been contributing to Which? Gardening as a freelance writer and have occasionally contributed to other publications including The Garden and Gardens Illustrated. Horticulture training includes all the RHS qualifications up to RHS Master of Horticulture and a City and Guilds in Planting Design. I'm a member of the RHS Herbaceous Plant Expert Group (formerly Committee) and an RHS forum member for AGM trials currently including Mahonia and Centaurea, Hylotelephium, Hardy geraniums and persica roses. I am also involved in Rochfords International Rose Trials, Gold Standard Rose Trial and Rose of the Year trial as one of the regular panel of judges. I'm a member of the Institute of Horticulture.
