Biography

Physicist turned software engineer turned organic no-dig vegetable gardener, Alex shares his enthusiasm of home-grown food and garden spaces through engaging educational videos on his channel, Alex Grows Food. His short film 'Can You Be Self-Sufficient While Working a Full-Time Job?' won Garden Video of the Year at the GMG Awards 2023. The following year he won Gardening Video of the Year at the 2024 awards with "Which Garden Mulch Saves The Most Water?" Alex is a one-man band covering videography, audio recording, lighting, performing and editing. He has recently been doing freelance video editing for international clients.

Additional Interests

This jack of all trades also writes - he's been published in national technology magazines, local newspapers and he even ran his student newspaper for a time. Alex was press officer on a voluntary basis for local organisations, helping journalists write articles (or ideally getting press releases printed 'as is') in news outlets.
