Biography

Emma is an environmental psychologist and visiting researcher at the University of Surrey, specialising in the psychological benefits of gardens and nature. Emma combines her research with extensive experience of working in and writing about gardens. She is a lifelong gardener and qualified garden designer, having studied at KLC School of Garden Design at Hampton Court Palace. Whilst there, Emma received several awards for her design work, including the Great Dixter Award for Planting Design, the Best Urban Garden Award, and a gold medal for the design of a new area at The Eden Project. Emma has written and taken photographs for several gardening magazines, including The English Garden, The Garden Design Journal, and Amateur Gardening. Emma has a very adaptable writing style and can communicate effectively to a range of audiences, both gardeners and beginners, and those wanting to understand how nature affects wellbeing.
