Biography

Polly Nicholson is an organic flower grower based in North West Wiltshire, who specialises in rare breed plant groups. She is holder of the National Collection of Tulipa (historic) with Plant Heritage, safeguarding over 100 different varieties of Dutch and English Florists' tulips dating back to 1595, and published 'The Tulip Garden' with Phaidon in March 2024. Polly holds open days and workshops at home throughout the spring, and has lectured on tulips across the United Kingdom and the East Coast of the United States. She is a regular contributor to magazines, yearbooks and newsletters.

Additional Interests

Antiquarian books, manuscripts and engravings relating to gardens, gardening and flowers. Dutch flower still-lifes from the 17th and 18th centuries. The art and irises of Cedric Morris and his garden at Benton End in Suffolk (Polly is a trustee of Benton End). Organic gardening and soil health. Bee keeping and dachshund disciplining (with limited success at the latter). The regeneration of chalk grasslands on the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire.
