Biography

Jean Vernon is an award-winning garden writer (winner of the GMG Beth Chatto Environmental Award 2020) and author of the best-selling book The Secret Lives of Garden Bees and Attracting Garden Pollinators. She is on a mission to unravel and demystify the intricate balance of nature and to introduce young and old to the familiar and unfamiliar bees and pollinators in their gardens. She loves to share some of the fascinating stories about our bumblebees and solitary bees, bringing these creatures alive and making audiences fall in love with these quirky creatures. Jean gives talks at Garden Clubs and Societies and takes Bumblebee Safaris at Jekkas Herb Farm, Yeo Valley Organic Gardens and runs workshops at RHS Wisley and RHS Rosemoor. She also writes articles for magazines and newspapers. She has a degree in Botany. Jean has a strong following on X & Insta (@TheGreenJeanie) and InstaGram (@addicted2bees)

Jean volunteers for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. She loves reading, gardening and cooking and is fascinated by herbs and herbal healing. She loves spending time in nature and watching wildlife and the changing seasons.
