This is an Ask Me Anything with a slight twist!
Our panel of experienced podcasters will share their insights, and we’ll explore how we, as GMG podcasters, can collaborate, exchange ideas, and support each other.
How do we work out where our plant loving, podcast loving audiences are and how do we encourage them to listen to more of our episodes? And to rate and review them too! Ask us anything about these topics and more – and let us know what works for you!
Our panel
Well here is the twist….we’ve invited Sarah McDowell along to give us her insights into podcasting in the wider world.
Sarah McDowell, digital marketing expert who has launched, grown and monetised four successful podcasts and now advises podcasters on their own podcasting goals. She has also worked with Captivate, a top podcast hosting platform and leads the West Midlands Podcast Club (see the full bio below).
But then we’d like to think of it as ‘a conversation’ rather than ‘a panel’. So we’d love you to join the conversation and share your podcasting insights. Some of those already in the Zoom Room for this AMA include:
Claire Vennis who can has gone from hosting Growing Together a monthly gardening show produced by Petersfield’s volunteer run radio station, Shine Radio to joining Alan Titchmarsh on ‘Ask Alan’ because she is now the Audio/Visual Editor at BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine, handling digital and podcast content.
MT O’Donnell hosts the podcast Scotland Grows now in its 8th series. She hosts that alongside the Scotland Grows magazine the digital title which celebrates Scottish gardening dropping into inboxes 6 times a year.
Julie Parker has just begun the 5th series of Two Good Gardeners which she co-hosts with Dan Cooper. She has also appeared on other people’s podcasts and is a regular contributor to local radio.
Sally Flatman worked for the BBC for over 30 years, many of those as a radio producer and she has a passion for audio. She combines that with a love of storytelling and plants in her podcast Our Plant Stories which was a finalist in last year’s Independent Podcast Awards.
Note: If you are thinking of starting a podcast then you are very welcome to join us. However, this won’t cover which equipment to use or other starter tips. You can catch up with Joff Elphick’s How to Start A Podcast if you log into the GMG website (see Members Area/GMG Webinar Recordings). If there is demand, we could run a follow-up session, so let us know.
