Snowdrop visit to Belvoir Castle SOLD OUT

Download Event to Calendar

We are delighted that the Guild has been invited to visit Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire on Tuesday, February 11 to view the fantastic display of snowdrops.

The castle grounds have never been open at peak snowdrop time before, so we are really privileged that the Duke and Duchess of Rutland are allowing us to visit. There are hundreds of thousands of snowdrops surrounding the castle and they should be at their best when we visit. We will walk round the snowdrop collection with head gardener Tom Webster and garden designer Andy Tudbury, who organises Belvoir's Flower and Garden Show in July.

After seeing the snowdrops we will get our own personal tour of historic Belvoir Castle, one of the grandest houses in Britain, whose interior is a wonderful mixture of Gothic, French and Italian styles. (If you are a fan of ‘The Crown’ you may recognise it, as it doubles for Windsor Castle in the programme.) We will also be treated to a light lunch at the Engine Yard café.

Our visit will start at 11am and end at around 3pm. If you want to come by train, the nearest station is Grantham, just over an hour from London.

This promises to be a really special day and a great way to kick off the garden visiting season. The visit is free to Guild members (£10 for non-members, payable on the day) and there are no restrictions on photography in the grounds.
