GMG Visit to Ashwood Nurseries

Download Event to Calendar

We are delighted to announce that that the first GMG visit of 2018 will be to the renowned Ashwood Nurseries. Situated in a canalside setting in beautiful countryside, Ashwood is world famous for its range of hellebores, many of them bred at the nursery. It also specialises in snowdrops, hepaticas, hardy cyclamens and auriculas – so there will be plenty to see.

Our visit begins at 11am with a tour of the nursery, where we will see a magnificent display of hellebores and learn about the breeding programme. We hope also to be allowed a peek into the hepatica greenhouse! After that we will be given a tour of nursery owner John Massey's beautiful three-acre garden, with its wealth of spring flowers. John, who has been awarded the RHS' highest honour, the Victoria Medal of Honour, is generously providing a complimentary light lunch for us. Our visit will end at approximately 3pm (or later for those who want to browse the nursery ....).

This visit is free to GMG members and there are no restrictions on photography. There is a £10 charge for non-members, payable on the day to the nursery. If you are coming by public transport, the nearest stations are Wolverhampton (eight miles) and Stourbridge (five miles). Full details of how to get there can be found on the Ashwood Nurseries website.
