GMG Visit to Great Comp & Lullingstone Castle

Download Event to Calendar

We know lots of GMG members love their salvias, so don't miss our trip to Great Comp in Kent, which is famed for its salvia collection. This seven-acre garden has a great range of late summer plants, including dahlias, crocosmias and kniphofias, and there's lots more to enjoy including an Italian garden, herbaceous borders and beautiful parkland. We'll be getting a guided tour from Mr Salvia himself, Great Comp's Head Gardener William Dyson.

Before visiting Great Comp, we are invited to Tom Hart Dyke's World Garden at Lullingstone Castle. This is the garden that plant hunter Tom planned while being held hostage for nine months in the Colombian jungle, and it is filled with thousands of unusual and exotic plants from all over the world.

We will meet at 10.30am at Lullingstone Castle; if you're coming by train, the nearest station is Eynsford, which is a short walk from Lullingstone. After touring the World Garden with Tom and having coffee and biscuits with him, we'll head a few miles to Great Comp, where we will see the garden with William Dyson and enjoy a complimentary sandwich lunch. We expect the visit to end at around 3.30pm.

The nearest train station to Great Comp is Borough Green and Wrotham.

There are no restrictions on photography at either garden. We expect this visit to be very popular, so please book your place as soon as possible by contacting Kate at GMG Admin

The visit is free to GMG members; there is a charge of £10 for non members, payable directly to the garden, not to the GMG; please ask for details when booking.)
