GMG Visit to Herefordshire

Download Event to Calendar

Come and join us on Tuesday, April 25, for a delightful visit to Herefordshire.

First, we will visit the lovely four-acre Stockton Bury Gardens. Tamsin Westhorpe, a GMG member, helps look after the garden alongside her uncles Raymond Treasure and Gordon Fenn, who created the garden. Stockton Bury, in Kimbolton near Leominster, is a real gem, beautifully laid out and absolutely jam-packed with unusual plants, with a particularly impressive display of clematis.

Tamsin will welcome us at the garden at 11am for coffee, and we will then tour the garden until 1pm, followed by complimentary lunch.

Then, at 2.30pm, we will drive 20 miles to Sir Roy Strong's celebrated garden at The Laskett, where we will explore the garden and then have tea, and get a chance to chat to Sir Roy. This fascinating four-acre garden, with its dramatic vistas and garden rooms, is the largest formal garden to be created in England since 1945.

For those who are planning to stay overnight, Tamsin has suggested we join up for dinner at the Salway Arms, which also has accommodation; there is also a Travel Lodge opposite the pub.

There are many interesting local hort businesses in the area (and some excellent nurseries) for those who want to explore futher.

The visit is free for GMG members, £15 for non-members.

Places are limited, so it is advisable to book early to avoid missing out. contact GMG Admin as soon as possible to book your place.
